Screenwriting Coaching

I can help you build your next draft.

Would you like my guidance and feedback as you (re)write your script?

That’s what I give to my “coaching” clients.

Here’s how it works:

We do a series of six recorded one-hour calls to nail down your key story choices.

To solidify your foundation and structure before you get to scene-by-scene work.

As I wrote in my book The Idea, this is the most important part of the writing process!

The goal is to create a solid, vetted 4-pager for you to write from.

Like the Save the Catbeat sheet,” which is a format we typically use.

Clarity ⇒ Action

We work together to find the strongest version of your project and a plan for you to execute.

Ongoing partnership

Flexible Approach

The timing and content of sessions and your output is customized to meet your needs.

How do we start?

Before the first call, you send me a one-page synopsis of your story as you see it.

Or a variety of possible loglines and ideas that fill up a page, to choose from.

We discuss, I give notes and suggestions, and you go off and revise/expand.

Then we schedule the next call, or you get back to me when you’re ready for one.

The frequency is up to you. Some people like deadlines!

I call this my “Story/Concept package.”

What happens when we finish?

You “break story” in a longer scene-by-scene outline before going to script.

Sometimes this work begins in the Story/Concept package.

More typically it starts once that work is done.

We can also do this phase together using my “Outline package.”

And after that, continue with my “Script package.”

With these, I read and give margin notes on 3 drafts of the outline, and 4 drafts of the script.

I also help you brainstrom and make all your key decisions along the way.

With 4 recorded one-hour calls during each of those two phases.

(Or an equivalent use of my time that we agree on.)

What does it cost?

The initial six-round series, the “Story/Concept package,” is $1,750.

It’s the same regardless of what medium you’re writing in.

Feature film, one-hour TV, half-hour TV, limited series, novel, etc.

When you click to purchase you’ll see alternate payment methods that offer interest-free installments.

Get one year free access to my Idea Course with any purchase – a $348 value.

All coaching packages are nonrefundable and must be used within one year.

(Unless an extension is agreed on, which I usually can accommodate.)

For the “Outline package” or “Script package,” see pricing below.

Those vary based on script project length. (If you’re a novelist, email me to discuss your options.)

You can purchase them à la carte after finishing the Story/Concept package.

We’ve worked on three TV pilot projects from start to finish. With each project, Erik guided me through the idea, the outlining process, all the way to script drafts and rewrites. When I started with Erik, I only had a vague notion of what “makes” a good TV pilot. He helped me understand that what’s needed to make a pilot work…

I spent a lot of money talking to Erik – about the same that it would have cost me to go back to graduate school and get a masters in screenwriting. Working with Erik was the better choice, because there is no substitute for one on one mentoring with a master of the craft. It was worth every penny.

What I lacked before working with Erik Bork was a gifted insider’s mentoring to help transform my story into the medium of film. My script has since been highlighted by a major screenplay coverage library, was a finalist and semi-finalist in big-time contests, and has garnered real interest by several producers.
